BSV 2016 'Hans Estate' Malbec
Nesting Place: Hans Estate
Born of Hans Estate Vineyard, nested in the majesty of the East Osoyoos Bench. This vineyard is meticulously farmed by the hands of the "Hans" family, the site was planted in 2001 exclusively to Red cultivars. The site is defined by an intensive West-facing slope & deep sand (25 feet in certain locations) based soil structure. This perpetuates concentration & depth of character in the wines grown.
The Wine & Moment in Time:
Hatched of the 2016 vintage, a 1st of its kind. While this vineyard has historically produced some of the most exceptional & iconic wines across all of our brands, never before have we showcased a singular expression of Malbec. The slow-burning nature of 2016 has bred an enigmatic & roguishly charming Malbec. This wine is highly expressive with Inky, Blueberry Jam at the forefront & heaps of perfume/floral in a supporting role. There are also nods to the benchmark Leather & Cigar smoke in the background of both the aromatic profile and palate. Overall, this has proved to be a structural animal worthy of reverence & patience.
As mentioned, the virtue of patience should not be overlooked here. The inaugural vintage of Malbec rested for 40 months in French Oak barrels, all of which were new.
The structural bones or foundation of this house that Malbec built are solid, to say the least. Drink now with culinary endeavours OR let rest through 2030.
