2017 'Vintoro Vineyard' Chardonnay
About the land: All of three acres, the Vintoro Vineyard is located in the East Kelowna highlands and is South-West facing; allowing for excellent sun saturation. This well drained site is planted upon silt with layers of glacial rock and gravel is planted exclusively to the rare and exotic Chardonnay Musque clone. This variation is known for it's lifted and exotic aromatic tones. This wine was barrel fermented and raised in a mix of mostly new French oak barrels and spend its entire time maturing on its lees. While powerful and opulent, this site provides a true backbone of acidity.
About the Wine: 'Farmed in East Kelowna, this 3 acre vineyard is planted to the aromatic mutation that is Chardonnay Musque, fun! Kept in new puncheons for a couple years, this has the opulence you have come to know and love about a Swifty Chardy, but the Musque adds some added exotic elements as well. Extra Fun! Drink now. Best believe you’re drinking this with a HUGE bowl of pasta with any kind of creamy sauce with shrimp or chicken in there but not required. Just make it creamy y’all.'
'Vintoro Vineyard is a southwest facing vineyard set in East Kelowna. The 3+ acre site is planted to the highly expressive chardonnay musqué clone. Given its natural power and aromatics, it is barrel-fermented in mostly new French oak. The juice is never racked off the lees, but it is stirred monthly. The wine was barrel fermented and raised in a mix of mostly new French oak puncheons for 24 months, spending the entire time maturing on its lees. It has the Black Swift opulence, and the winemaker Jason Parkes swagger, yet both come with an acidic underside to balance the equation. I would age this wine five years for optimum results, but it could be fun to drink with lobster or crab dripping in butter tonight. Not for the faint-hearted.
