Nesting Place: Vintoro Vineyard
Vintoro is a unique 3 acre plot of land in East Kelowna, the site is planted to a South-West facing slope which allows for exceptional sun saturation regardless of vintage. The soil is defined by glacially deposited rock & gravel content. This vineyard is planted entirely with the Chardonnay Musque clone, a genetic mutation/deviation in the Chardonnay lineage. By nature, Chardonnay Musque is more aromatic traditionally expected & leans heavily towards the perfume/floral side of the aromatic spectrum. This mutation is a natural occurrence yet in this case was a specific clonal selection for the site.
The Wine & Moment in Time:
This wine was hatched of the 2018 vintage, which was defined by more moderate temperatures & longer than average length of growing season. Vintoro benefits from the site specific microclimate experiencing dominant exposure to earlier morning/afternoon sun aiding in acid retention even in this excessively long vintage.
Fermented & aged over the course of 2 years in mostly new French Oak Barrels, Vintoro is both intensely aromatic & textured. The nose leans towards Cloves & Orange Blossom whilst the palate is laden with ripe Stone Fruit & Lemon Pudding. Amidst the weight of its own existence, this wine remains vibrant & fresh.
Longevity:
Vintoro exudes excitement & enjoyment in the immediate moment. If inclined to revel in the evolution towards a more Oak driven or textured side of the coin, drink through 2024.
